Abstract: The objective of this study was to compare the selection of plants bred by different pedigree methods using selection among, among and within and only within families. The haploid induction rate of 14 S0:1 and seven S2:3 families, all crossed with the single-cross hybrid GNZ9501, was evaluated. An experimental area of the Department of Biology of the Federal University of Lavras (UFLA), in Lavras, Minas Gerais, in the growing seasons 2012/2013 and 2014/2015, was used for the experiments. In each growing season, one experiment per was carried out, arranged in a complete randomized design, with one and two replications, respectively. Haploid induction was most effective in the families 2 and 6 in both growing seasons. Selection among and within families resulted in higher genetic gains for haploid induction. The results indicated a high genetic variability for haploid induction rate in plants within families.

Diferenças nos teores de lignina na planta entre cultivares transgênicos RR e convencionais, tem sido relatadas, por vários autores, no entanto, são escassos os trabalhos avaliando a influência da aplicação do glifosato sobre os teores de lignina na planta e em sementes de soja RR. Neste sentido, objetivou-se, com este trabalho, avaliar a qualidade fisiológica de sementes de soja transgênica RR e os teores de lignina de plantas submetidas à pulverização com o herbicida glifosato. Os ensaios foram conduzidos em casa de vegetação e em campo, no município de Lavras, MG, na safra 2007/08. O delineamento experimental, utilizado em campo, foi o de parcelas subdivididas, com quatro repetições, considerando-se como parcelas os tratamentos capina e herbicida glifosato, e, como subparcelas, cinco cultivares RR de soja (BRS 245 RR, BRS 247 RR, Valiosa RR, Silvânia RR e Baliza RR). No ensaio de casa de vegetação, utilizaram-se os cultivares BRS 245 RR e Valiosa RR, em delineamento de blocos casualizados, com quatro repetições. As aplicações com herbicida glifosato foram realizadas nos estádios de desenvolvimento V3, V7 e início de R5 (3 L/ha). Determinou-se o peso de 1000 sementes, dano mecânico, germinação e índice de velocidade de germinação, índice de velocidade de emergência, envelhecimento acelerado, condutividade elétrica e teste de imersão de sementes em água, além dos teores de lignina no tegumento das sementes, no caule e nos legumes. A aplicação do herbicida glifosato, em campo e em casa de vegetação, não alterou a qualidade fisiológica de sementes de soja RR nem os teores de lignina na planta.

Differences in levels of lignin in the plant between conventional and transgenic cultivars RR has been reported by several authors, however, there are few studies evaluating the influence of spraying of glyphosate on the lignin in the plant and RR soybean seeds. The aim of this study was to evaluate the physiological quality of RR transgenic soybean seeds and the lignin contents of plants sprayed with the herbicide glyphosate. The assays were conducted both in greenhouse and field in the municipality of Lavras, MG, in the agricultural year 2007/08. The experiment was arranged in a splitplot design with four replicates, considering the treatments hand weeding and herbicide glyphosate as plots, and five RR soybean cultivars (BRS 245 RR, BRS 247 RR, Valiosa RR, Silvânia RR and Baliza RR) as splitplots. In the greenhouse, the cultivars tested were BRS 245 RR and Valiosa RR in a randomized block design with four replicates. The sprayings were carried out at stages V3, V7 and early R5 (3L/ha). The 1000 seed weight, mechanical injury, germination and germination velocity index, emergence velocity index, accelerated aging, electrical conductivity and water soaking seed test, lignin content in the seed coat, in the stem and legumes were determined. The spraying of glyphosate herbicide, in greenhouse and field, did not alter the physiological quality of seeds and the lignin contents in the plant.

A caracterização de cultivares de flores é fundamental nos processos de registro e proteção dessas e também na certificação da pureza genética. Nesse trabalho foram realizadas a caracterização e a certificação da pureza genética de cultivares de Gladiolus sp. por meio de marcadores morfológicos. Utilizaram-se onze cultivares de Gladiolus sp., e para a caracterização das cultivares, as parcelas foram constituídas de 25 plantas avaliando-se características dos cormos, folhas e flores. O delineamento experimental adotado foi de blocos casualizados, com quatro repetições Para a certificação da pureza genética, foram instaladas parcelas constituídas de 24 plantas e cormos contendo contaminação varietal em diferentes proporções. Foram utilizadas três cultivares para compor os tratamentos e as avaliações foram conduzidas por três avaliadores que desconheciam a porcentagem existente de contaminação varietal. Foram calculadas as porcentagens de acerto e de erro com base nos resultados obtidos nas avaliações. Foi calculado o desvio padrão da média dos resultados nas quatro repetições, obtidos pelos três avaliadores. Para verificar a significância dos desvios entre os resultados obtidos pelos avaliadores foi utilizado o teste de qui-quadrado ( χ²). Por meio de características do cormo é possível diferenciar quatro cultivares das onze avaliadas. A característica da cor das flores é o descritor morfológico mais seguro para a diferenciação das cultivares de gladíolo. Dependendo das características das cultivares contaminantes e das cultivares em análises é possível utilizar descritores morfológicos para a certificação de pureza genética em cultivares de gladíolo.

The characterization of flower cultivars is fundamental in the registration and protection processes and also in the genetic purity certification. In this work, both the characterization and the genetic purity certification of cultivars of Gladiolus sp by means of morphologic markers were made. Eleven cultivars of Gladiolus sp. were used and for the characterization of the cultivars, the plots were made up of 25 plants, evaluating the characteristics of corms, leaves and flowers. The used experimental design was the one of randomized blocks with four replicates. For the genetic purity certification, plots with 24 plants and corms containing varietal contaminations in different proportions were established. Three cultivars were used to make up the treatments, and the evaluations were conducted by three evaluators who were unaware of the existent percentage of varietal contamination. The percentage of mistakes was calculated based upon the obtained results of the evaluations. The standard deviation of the means of the results in the four replicates obtained by the three evaluators was calculated. In order to verify the significance of the deviations among the obtained results by the evaluators, Chi-square test <img src="/img/revistas/cagro/v35n4/a07sim.jpg" /> was used. By means of corm characteristics, it is possible to distinguish four cultivars out of the eleven evaluated. The characteristic of flower color is the safest morphological descriptor for distinguishing gladiolus cultivars. Depending on the characteristics of the contaminant cultivars and on the ones under analyses, it is possible to use morphological descriptors for the genetic purity certification in gladiolus cultivars.
